Research

  • The scientific research of Veli-Matti Taavitsainen has focused on applied statistics, chemometrics, mathematical modeling and statistical design of experiments.

    Veli-Matti Taavitsainen has developed some novel mathematical/statistical methods, including nonlinear (parametric) partial least squares (PLS), implicit calibration, and rational function ridge regression.
    Veli-Matti Taavitsainen was awarded with the golden Herman Wold medal in 2017 for his achievements in chemometrics .
